2017 presidential aspirant charged with stealing NTV journalist Kenneth Mijungu car

Justus Juma, a 2017 presidential aspirant has been charged on two counts.

Justus Juma, the 2017 presidential hopeful has been charged with the offence of stealing a motor vehicle contrary to Section 268 as read with Section 278A of the Penal code. He had also been charged with a conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to Section 393 of the Penal Code.

The stolen car is a Toyota Prado VX valued at Ksh. 5.6 million. The incident occurred on June 13, 2019 at 9:40 pm just outside the Nation Centre building. After the incident the NTV journalist, Ken Mijungu, took to his twitter account to announce of the stolen vehicle that the thieves are said to have disabled its tracking system immediately after stealing.

The case was heard on Friday 13 September, 2019 before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku.

The accused denied charges and was granted a cash bail of Ksh. 800,000. The case will be mentioned on October 23, 2019.

Justus Juma had planned to contest for Kenya’s presidency in 2017 however, he failed to get clearance from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Earlier this week on 11 September, 2019 Barack Ochien’g Aluoch also pleaded not guilty to the same charges. Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi released him on a Ksh. 500, 000 bail or an alternative cash bond of Ksh. 1,000,000.

Another suspect is reportedly at large.
