DCI may Summon Social Media Influencers Over Tob Cohen’s Murder

The directorate of criminal investigations may summon Twitter influencers that pushed a hashtag campaign aimed at influencing the trial and investigations pertaining to the murder of dutch tycoon Tob Cohen.

A few days ago, influencers were defending Sarah Wairimu using the hashtag #SarahWairimuvsCohen

In tweets that went viral, some paid influencers attacked Mr. Cohen claiming he is a drunkard, chain smokers and used to abuse substances.

In one Tweet, an influencer said that Mr. Cohen deserved what he was going through.

The directorate of criminal investigations will seek to know who funded the Twitter campaign and what their motive was.

As at now, some influencers, out of shame and panic, have deleted the posts they made but keen Twitter users had already taken the screenshots of the tweets.

This will probably cause panic as social media has become a powerful tool to pass the message and run various campaigns.

Twitter has 440,000 active monthly users as compared to Facebook that has 7.3 million active monthly users.
