Suspended Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Managing Director Joe Sang and former Company Secretary Gloria Khafafa, were yesterday brought to court for their ongoing case over the loss of funds in the Kisumu oil jetty project.

In December 2018, Mr Sang, Ms Gloria Khafafa, Mr Vincent Korir Cheruiyot, Mr Billy Aseka and Mr Nicholas Gitobu, spent some time in police cells and later appeared before Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti at Milimani in Nairobi.

Mr Sang and Ms. Khafafa face charges of abuse of office and failure to comply with procedures relating with management of public funds over the construction of the Sh1.9 billion jetty.

The oil jetty was supposed to help deliver oil to Uganda and Tanzania.

KPC allegedly sold old material procured in 2001 to the contractor awarded the tender and claimed to have bought new ones.
