Milimani Law Courts conducts proceedings in open air

In a recent discourse across in a certain Kenyan law school classroom, a law lecturer had posed the question “what is a court?”. At the end of the discourse, students had disposed of the mindset that a court was a structure with walls and a judge instead adopting the notion that a court was constituted by a Coram and only through a Coram was a court complete. The Coram therefore could conduct its proceedings anywhere.

In light with the recent suspension of all court activities in Kenya by the Chief Justice Hon David Maraga after discovery by medics that the deadly Corona Virus 2019 had infected some members of the Kenyan society, a Milimani Law Court on Tuesday March 17,2020 held proceeding under a tree adjacent to the Milimani car park. 

The court reasons for holding open air session is aimed was aimed minimizing contact in line with WHO guidelines on the novel Corona virus.

The proceedings were led by Senior Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe as the lawyers and prosecution submitted their pleadings.
