Murder Suspect Vigilance Sighi Charged

Murder suspect Vigilance Shighi, 29, charged at the Makadara Law Courts for killing her boyfriend an aeronautical engineer at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport(JKIA).

Police have been investigating the alleged murder of a 33-year-old JKIA attached Engineer by his girlfriend at his Umoja house in Nairobi.

Yesterday, a bodyguard attached to the IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati reported the incidence to the Police. According to the bodyguard’s Stephen Orad statement, his neighbour, Edward Okello, was stabbed in the chest by his girlfriend on Sunday at about 8.30 pm.

The girlfriend was identified as a Taita named Vigilance Shighi aged 29 years. She stabbed him with a kitchen knife.

A CCTV footage has emerged of Edward Okello, an engineer who was allegedly stabbed following a domestic squabble at their Nairobi’s Umoja II Estate home.

Okello is seen walking out of a gate, bleeding profusely while clutching at his chest. He collapsed outside his neighbour’s house.In the Footage, his alleged girlfriend, Vigilance Shighi, follows him outside and tries to help him as neighbours and passers-by rush at the scene.

“I started screaming and shouting, asking other residents to come and help Edward. People rushed to the scene,” Elmerida Kemuma, a neighbour told Citizen TV.

While in court, Sighi claimed to have maimed Mr Edward Okello, 33, three times during a domestic fight over food in their house in Umoja, Nairobi will be held in police custody for 21 days.

Vigilance Shighi who is alleged to have stabbed Okello, 33, with a kitchen knife but on Monday she told Senior Resident Magistrate Lewis Gatheru of Makadara Law Courts that she only threw a cup at the deceased face.

Mr Okello died at the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Kayole where he was receiving treatment after the incident. He had three sharp wounds on the chest and abdomen impose with a knife.
